PP-R EF Fittings

PP-R EF fittings, also known as PP-R electric fusion fittings, are polypropylene pipe connectors with built-in electric heating wires.

Installation & Testing

The operation process of electric fusion connection relies more on equipment than thermal fusion, but manual methods require relatively simplified operation. The key steps are as follows:

Cutting and Cleaning: Use a specialized pipe cutter or saw to cut the pipe vertically, ensuring a flat end face. Thoroughly remove dust, oil, and moisture from the pipe ends and fittings sockets, and keep them dry.

Marking and scraping (as required): Mark the insertion depth at the end of the pipe. Some specifications or manufacturers require scraping off the oxide layer on the surface of the pipe insertion section to ensure welding strength.

Insert pipe fittings: Insert the pipe in a straight line into the electric melting pipe fittings to the marked depth, and rotation is strictly prohibited. If the fit is too tight, it can be slightly rotated but the final position must be accurate and free of impurities.

Connect the welding machine: Connect the output clamp of the electric fusion welding machine to the terminal post of the pipe fitting, scan the barcode on the pipe fitting (if any) or manually input the welding parameters (voltage, time).

Power on welding: Start the welding machine and observe the overflow of molten metal in the observation hole (if any) of the pipe fittings. Personnel should stay away during the welding process to prevent electric shock or burns.

Cooling: After welding is completed, the pipe and fittings must be kept free from any external force, rotation, or movement until the fittings are completely cooled. The cooling time depends on the specifications and ambient temperature, usually taking several minutes to over ten minutes. Insufficient cooling is a common cause of joint failure.
