Recently, the ISO/TC 138 "Plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of fluids" plenary meeting was held in South Korea. Huang Jian, Vice General Manager and Chief Engineer of ERA Corporation, led the Chinese delegation to the meeting as the head of the expert delegation from the corresponding standards committee, representing China and conducting technical exchanges.

During the conference, the organizing committee also held a working meeting on the ISO 9853 international standard, spearheaded by ERA Corporation. Sun Huali, Director of ERA Corporation's Technology Center, reported on the standard text, preliminary voting, and various work processes, and engaged in in-depth discussions on the standard's technical content with experts from Germany, the United States, South Korea, Australia, and other countries. Substantial progress has been made in the drafting of the ISO 9853 international standard.

ERA Group joined the SAC/TC48/SC3 work as early as 1999. Relying on its national-level enterprise technology center, national-level postdoctoral research station, China Plastic Pipe Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, and China Light Industry High-Performance Plastic Pipe Engineering Technology Research Center, the company has always attached great importance to industry standardization, leading the healthy development of the industry. At the same time, it actively participates in international standardization work, winning more respect and a stronger voice for Chinese industry and enterprises.

In October 2015, ERA led a delegation to Berlin, Germany for the first time to attend the ISO/TC138 annual meeting. Over the past decade, ERA has attended meetings in Switzerland, Austria, France, and other countries multiple times, and co-organized the 2018 ISO/TC138 Hangzhou annual meeting. ERA has consistently made efforts and contributions to the industry's standardization work. As the chairman unit of the 7th National Plastics Products Standardization Technical Committee's Subcommittee on Plastic Pipes, Fittings and Valves (SAC/TC48/SC3), ERA Group's technical personnel have successively become registered experts of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC138). In 2023, ERA Group, as the second drafting unit, released two international standards: ISO 9854-1:2023 and ISO 9854-2:2023. This marked the first time that my country's plastic pipe industry had led the development of ISO standards, achieving a breakthrough for the industry in drafting ISO standards. During the standard-setting process, we established strong cooperative relationships with standards associations and key laboratories in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and other countries, conducting research on product testing method standards and jointly exploring the standardized application throughout the entire lifecycle of plastic pipes. In the revision and development of related international standards for product methods, we contributed our practical experience and key technical indicators, contributing to the joint development of international standards.

From "manufacturing going global" to "standards going global," from being a "follower" of industry rules to a "setter," the business adage "first-class enterprises set standards" has enabled Chinese manufacturing to confidently and firmly pursue high-quality international expansion.
